In Titus Andronicus we find the line:
"Knock at his study, where, they say, he keeps."
Act 5, Scene 2.
The word "keeps" (instead of "lives") in this
connection is a colloquial expression used exclusively by the
students at Cambridge University, where Francis Bacon took up
residence in the year 1573.
Is this a coincidence, having regard to the fact that Will Shaksper
never attended any University, and it is, therefore, most unlikely
that he was acquainted with this expression?
