Lawrence Gerald Posted September 14 Share Posted September 14 Jimmy Buffett wrote a song, "Love in the Library." Hear him mention two famous Elizabethans in this short audio excerpt. He is also on record for saying that Mark Twain was his favorite writer. God bless Jimmy Buffett and all the peace, joy and love he shared with the world. And Jimmy who was his own kind of pirate would know Sir Francis Drake, obviously. And it would have been a tribute to Drake if he had named his last name. But everybody "just knows" Jimmy Buffet meant Sir Francis Drake, especially if you live in California, right? "Sir Francis and Elizabeth the best there's ever been" The "Mother and Son" or the "Queen and Pirate"? 12 hours ago, Lawrence Gerald said: He is also on record for saying that Mark Twain was his favorite writer. Of course Mark Twain was a pirate's favorite writer, we just learned that Mark Twain was a pirate stealing works of others. LOL Did Jimmy Buffet leave off the last name "Drake" on purpose yet overtly say, "Sir Francis" as a wink at a few friends? 2 T A A A A A A A A A A A T 157 www.Light-of-Truth.com 287 <-- 1 8 8 1 1 O 1 1 8 8 1 --> Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Lawrence Gerald Posted September 15 Author Share Posted September 15 Jimmy B was a History major and hung out in Bolinas, CA, a hippie haven and noted area for various outlaw operations in the 1970's and probably heard the Francis Drake stories from the "pirateheads." 3 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Light-of-Truth Posted September 15 Share Posted September 15 I read this today, "Sir Francis Drake continued to 'singe the King of Spain’s beard' (as Francis Bacon put it), seemingly with impunity. " https://civilization.fandom.com/wiki/Francis_Drake_(Civ6) I can't find this as Bacon's quote. I wondered if it was about Drake specifically. 1 T A A A A A A A A A A A T 157 www.Light-of-Truth.com 287 <-- 1 8 8 1 1 O 1 1 8 8 1 --> Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This is in "Considerations touching a War with Spain" and yes, this is about Drake specifically. 🙂 https://books.google.fr/books?id=CDnjAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA494&lpg=PA494&dq=Considerations+touching+a+War+with+Spain&source=bl&ots=kyQbBJUxr9&sig=ACfU3U25JvnDYF2wtLp91mdGHQbHztRXXg&hl=fr&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjA4ZrVgK-BAxX-VKQEHblzBpU4ChDoAXoECAIQAw#v=onepage&q=Beard&f=false (see p.512) 1 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
