Marvin Haines
HEAR YE, HEAR YE! Happy WIllie Shaksper Day!! As all of you undoubtedly know, today, in days of olde (it doesn't really matter when because we can't remember the exact year), in YE OLDE TOWNE of Stratford-Upon-Avon, the GOD OF OUR IDOLITRY was born. So, come all ye faithful, to join in the gospel of Willie the Shakey Shakspur! (And don't forget to come back for our thrice weekly services and scripture readings!) In Shaksper we trust! (Oops! Light-of-Truth
Every year today, I wish I was with Willy, Ben, and Michael on that fateful April night in 1616 partying and drinking it up. Willy's hangover was so bad he died. https://www.history.co.uk/article/did-shakespeare-really-die-from-a-hangover This oft-repeated legend comes from the diary entry of a certain John Ward, the vicar of Stratford, who noted that “Shakespeare, Drayton, and Ben Jonson had a merry meeting and, it seems, drank too hard, for Shakespeare died of a fever there contracted”. It conjures up a compelling image: three of the greatest poets of their age having a wild night on the town, knocking tankards of ale together and misbehaving with abandon. Cortés Inlandia Literary Journeys At its 1995 world conference in Paris, UNESCO decreed April 23 to be World Book and Copyright Day. On this date each year it is hoped that every citizen of the world will pick up a book and read it! Why April 23? Because on that date in 1616 three great writers died: William Shakespeare and two Spaniards, Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra and El Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.
