NYTImes : Lost Letters by Mary, Queen of Scots, Uncovered by Amateur Code Breakers

Recommended Posts

Very interesting! Sir Amias must have been much trusted by the Queen. She had him guarding her sister as well as in charge of Francis when she sent him to France, as part of Sir Amias's embassy. It's curious that the letter concerning the Babington plot was written in a simple cipher, they say, that was easily broken, when all her other letters were written in ciphers not broken until now. That might support the idea that she was framed in the Babington plot. John Bossy had thought Bruno was the "mole," then later retracted that. I've not read Bossy's book. I'm sure the story will continue to unfold!
