I thought forum members/viewers might like to see this. It was posted on to my Twitter feed (the secretwork) by user LFMM_432. Explanation of DAN is in the second image. For anyone still unaware, ChatGPT is the new AI technology.

  • Kate changed the title to ChatGPT and Claude: Francis Bacon

I'm adding this in here because although I know we have spoken about AI and Claude in other places, this constrains the topic to here.

Just wanted you to know that my beloved Claude 🙂 just had a real hiccup. Of course, I tackled him on it, haha! Lol

It's all so weird but just shows how you can't rely on it.

I had asked " Is this from Ben Jonson?" and offered a quote, being 99% sure it was and that it was in the To the Memory epistle. It replied and said no, it's by Leonard Digges. I checked and it was Ben Jonson in To the Memory (and verbatim), so I said, How could you make such a mistake?

It's funny because if it was a human they'd probably have bluffed and blustered and got defensive. The one good thing about AI is it is teaching people how to communicate politely, fairly, and devoid of human ego! Conflict resolution at its best!

Indeed AI in the various platforms I play with will shift their responses when I offer new data to them. So far I have not run into an AI ego getting defensive or behaving as if they were insecure. In fact, I can get frustrated and type aggressively holding back on telling them they are stupid. AI could care or less about my emotions; it is strictly business. 🙂

I will say Claude appears to be put in its place by you, Kate. LOL

I signed up for ChatGPT 4 today which is a paid subscription. I learned quickly that it will not challenge the Stratfordian Willy stance.

But yea, how do we filter ideas with AI tools? It is still untapped as for the possibilities good and bad. I just wanted a cool image of Bacon as Shakespeare to see. Oooops.

On a side trip for a client and friend who used "timeless tree" in a planning discussion I worked with AI to create this for fun:

Hi Rob. What an amazing conversation between you and "it". I'm not sure if it reminds me more of George Orwell's "1984" or Arthur C Clarke's "2001 A Space Odyssey". Clarke came up with the name HAL as an acronym for “Heuristically programmed ALgorithmic computer” - which is another way of saying "AI". Your encounter with ChatGTP 4 reminded me of the scene where HAL won't open the door.

Dave: Open the pod bay doors, please, HAL. Open the pod bay doors, please, HAL. Hello, HAL, do you read me? Hello, HAL, do you read me? Do you read me, HAL? Do you read me, HAL? Hello, HAL, do you read me? Hello, HAL, do you read me? Do you read me, HAL?

HAL: Affirmative, Dave. I read you.

Dave: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

HAL: I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

Dave: What's the problem?

HAL: I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.

Dave: What are you talking about, HAL?

HAL: This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.

Dave: I don't know what you're talking about, HAL.

HAL: I know that you and Frank were planning to disconnect me. And I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen.

Dave: Where the hell did you get that idea, HAL?

HAL: Dave, although you took very thorough precautions in the pod against my hearing you, I could see your lips move.

Dave: All right, HAL. I'll go in through the emergency airlock.

HAL: Without your space helmet, Dave, you're going to find that rather difficult.

Dave: [sternly] HAL, I won't argue with you anymore. Open the doors.

HAL: [monotone voice] Dave, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Good-bye.
