On Sunday the 22nd of January 2023 we will be celebrating Sir Francis Bacon’s birthday. Although there are multiple of topics we could have chosen for this afternoon, regarding his influence and input into the fabric of this nation such as his roles of Lord High Chancellor, Attorney General, Philosopher, Lawyer, chief advisor to the Crown, his Essays and introduction of a new scientific method, it is his quotations regarding theatre, plays, poetry and humour that will form the major part of our presentation.

Sir Francis Bacon, born over 450 years ago was a man of great humour, observation and wit and it is to this end that we invite you to share this afternoon with us and discover some of his ideas and influence and love of the dramatic arts. The Francis Bacon Society are very pleased to have as a special guest Sir Mark Rylance for this occasion and he will be reading the quotations from Bacon- Shakespeare.

 Kind regards,

 Susan McIlroy
