Synchronicity my wife just retired from Gibbs High School a week or so ago. But I wonder if he is a descendant of Meriba Folger, a Native American, I believe. Being he was a black man in the 1800's (September 28, 1821 – August 14, 1874) with status and education, his roots may very well be connected to the Folger's. Blood roots? Not just his name. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Clarkson_Gibbs My Dad's ancestors arrived in Virginia from the 1620's on for a while. "Hales" were first, then "Johnsons" and "Smiths". "Fowlers" were not too far behind. All landed in Virginia. All went on to do things, usually settling and learning to get along with the Natives. At one time my Great Grandfather Hale and his family basically owned an entire county in the western hills of Virginia, Giles County. Right on the north flowing New River! Beautiful! I need to get onto Ancestry and see what all my Uncle found before he passed. He had a big book that is lost, but I remember seeing the New Atlantis period (my thought) being described.
